‘INIS understands the product we need; they thoroughly assess each commission and produce exactly what is requested each time – this is extremely important to us in the current environment where the timely execution of each project is imperative. Their importance to our operation cannot be underestimated and we recommend them as environmental managers on any size project.’Google+
SAG GmbH – Barna to Screeb 110kV transmission line project
INIS Environmental Consultants Ltd. was commissioned by SAG GmbH to prepare a Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) and a Health and Safety Plan for the construction of the entire Barna to Screeb 110kV line project in County Galway. This is a major construction project on the longest 110kV transmission line in Ireland. The total length of the line to be constructed is 48 kilometres and will take one year to complete. This line will pass through expansive areas of peat, traverses many NHAs and is proximal to SACs.
The CEMP was tailored to suit the specific environmental construction management, all specific environmental constraints and to ensure excellence in construction while directing construction engineers in the methods of construction in peat areas, near watercourses with Freshwater Pearl Mussel or salmonids and bird sensitive areas. The INIS Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) creates and maintains for an organisation a comprehensive, dynamic and systematic method of:
- Minimising harmful effects on the environment caused by its activities and;
- Achieving continual improvement of its environmental performance.
Our CEMP uses many of the principals outlined in ISO 14001 to help ensure its effectiveness. All our Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs) are built on the “Plan, Do, Check, Act” model that emphasises the concept of continual improvement and enables an organisation to adopt a CEMP approach no matter what the current state of its environmental management is.
Our Health and Safety Plan was developed in conjunction with SAG GmbH from the Preliminary Health and Safety Plan information provided by the PSDP for the project and prepared in accordance with Regulation 12 (1) (a) of SI 504 of 2006, the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations, 2006. As with all our Health and Safety Plans, it will be further developed as the project progresses through the construction stage.
