Inis Environmental ecologists are currently conducting onsite supervision and monitoring for the installation of over 1km of silt control fencing. This is for the ongoing construction of a 110kv overhead power line substation in Glenties, Co. Donegal. Silt control is required onsite due to hydrological connectivity between the construction location and a Special Area of Conservation (SAC). Inis ecologists are present full time as the appointed Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW), to ensure that downstream waters are fully protected before, during and after construction of the substation. Compliance with the required mitigation measures is monitored using our trademarked “Yellow Card” system.
All personnel have been given an ecological toolbox talk on the sensitive issues onsite by Inis ecologists before any works commenced. The correct instruction to construction personnel is an integral part of the Ecological Clerk of Works role.
