The Early Marsh-orchid (Dactylorhiza incarnata), a native Irish orchid which flowers from May to July has recently been seen by an Inis Ecologist. This orchid species grows thought Ireland and is locally abundant in bogs, marshes and other wet habitats. Orchids such as this are sensitive to disturbance and require specific conditions to survive. Interestingly, Orchids depend on symbiotic associations with soil fungi for their survival.
